Custom email domains

A guide for setting up your Arrows custom email domain

The sender address for the emails that get sent from Arrows can be whitelabeled to be customized for your own brand!

Whitelabeling the email domain means your customers will see an email address of your choice when they are sent welcome emails, reminder emails, and comment emails (instead of hello@arrows.to).

This makes it an extension of your business and brand instead of mentioning “Arrows”

💡

Custom email domains require changing DNS settings. You might need someone from your IT department to help with this setup.

As an Arrows admin, you can follow the below steps and share the DNS record information with your IT team to complete the setup.

IF your IT team wants to complete the setup themselves, you (or your Arrows admin) can add and give them admin permissions here - https://app.arrows.to/team

Adding the custom email domain

From this page, you can add a custom Sender Address and Sender Name under the Custom plan email domain section.

For example, if you are main email domain ends in @acme.com and you are using Arrows for onboarding, you might use something like…

  • and “Acme Onboarding Team” as your Sender Name

Once you have added the Sender Address and Name of your choice, hit Create for the DNS records you’ll need to finish the process

You will need to verify this is actually your company’s email domain in the next step.

The email itself doesn’t necessarily need to be a real inbox, but the email domain must be something you own!

If a participant hits “reply” on any of those emails, we try to return that email back to the plan coordinator directly.

Adding DNS records to your domain

The types for the DNS record you’ll need to add to your domain are TXT and CNAME.

You’ll need to add the Hostname and the value provided on this page to your domain.

Once you have done so, click Verify domain on this page.

Both the DKIM and the Return Path will need to be verified for set up to be complete

It can take up to 48 hours for some DNS record changes to take effect.

Verified domain

Once your email domain is setup and verified, you’ll see your verified domain when you are back on the Arrows custom domain settings page.

This means your custom email domain is live and being used as the Sender Address and Name in all of your emails going forward!
